South Africa to host 14th International Festival of Language and Culture

The 14th International Festival of Language and Culture, South Africa, IFLCSA, will be held this April twenty first, at the Nelson Mandela Theatre in Johannesburg. The Festival is the largest and most prominent global project for promoting world languages and cultures. This year 16 countries including Azerbaijan, Brazil, Egypt, Germany, Bosnia, India, Kazakhstan, Madagascar, Malawi, Phillipines, Senegal. Tanzania, Ukraine, USA, Zambia and South Africa will participate. Ilhami Dermitas is the co-ordinator of the festival and he joins us now to tell us more.

Student from Pak-Turk school to represent Pakistan
A Pakistani-Turkish school student will represent Pakistan in an international science Olympiad in the US. Habibullah Hal Muhammad from Lahore’s Pak-Turk International School and College was named Intel grand winner in a project competition held on Tuesday as part of the Intel National Science Fair. His project, “Organic Battery,” will represent Pakistan at the International Science and Engineering Fair 2011 in Los Angeles, California.
Turkey’s Maarif schools to be funded by Saudi and IDB money
The Maarif Foundation, established by the Turkish government in order to compete with Turkish schools abroad established by Gülen movement sympathizers, has received approval from Saudi authorities and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) for financial support for Maarif schools abroad, a Turkish news portal reported on Friday.
Parents of Nigerian-Turkish International College students decry call to close schools
Mr. Abudulahi, a professor, added that the schools were playing very significant role in the development of education in Nigeria and should not be closed. He said that the school was one of the most secured in the country, adding that even in the hit of Boko Haram activities in the North ast, it remained open in Yobe. He further added that so long as the NTIC had operated within the laws of Nigeria, it should be allowed to remain in operation.
Guinean president thanks officials from Turkish schools for educational efforts
Guinean President Alpha Conde received representatives of Turkish schools and an association run by volunteers from the Gülen movement at his office on Monday, thanking the group for their educational efforts in his country.
